about

Taymara (Tay Maritime Action) is a voluntary sector organisation which exists to serve the local communities of Tayside – i.e. the geographic areas of Fife, Dundee, Angus and Perth & Kinross.   Our vessels and qualified crews provide safe access to the exciting Tay river marine environment to impart knowledge, qualifications, skills and memorable maritime experiences for all, but especially for those who are disadvantaged or vulnerable.

Our Funding
Tour the Tay!

Spring, Summer and Autumn

Taymara augments grant funding and the generosity of individuals by providing a season of river tours

Departing from variously Broughty Ferry and Tayport, they are a wonderful opportunity for viewing wildlife, scenery and heritage on Scotland’s largest river

Also, our educational and therapeutic river trips are available for children aged 5 to 18 with serious illnesses and for the children’s parents – they are completely free for these families

Our Community
Volunteers!

How you can help

We particularly welcome people with seagoing experience and those with current qualifications.

– But we love teaching those who are willing to learn.

We are also keen to attract more young people, more women members, people with learning difficulties and those from ethnic and LGBT communities.

Themes

Taymara exists primarily to serve three target groups: People, in particular children, suffering from severe chronic illness.

Disabled people, particularly although not exclusively those with a learning disability.

Offenders, for whom our experience and training can provide practical skills. employment prospects and new social avenues.
