Badger is Taymara’s principal workhorse. She is a 10 metre Nelson launch with twin Perkins turbocharged diesels, retrofitted in 2008 with a generous grant from The Robertson Trust. Latterly her propshafts have been giving cause for concern. These have now been replaced, along with new cutlass bearings and the installation of a rope cutter to each shaft. The cutters are ingenious devices which sever ropes that might otherwise foul the propellers and stop them turning. Funding for this work was kindly supplied by the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland and Foundation Scotland.
