Lady Lex passes Scotscraig Lighthouse on first entering the Tay. Many thanks are due to her owner, Clive McKeag for allowing us to use this eyeopening vessel for our work within the local community.

Marigot was chartered that day but we still managed to rendezvous with Lady Lex and Badger for some photos. Marigot’s passengers were keen to see her too.

“The Lady and a Jacked Up Gorilla”. .... This isn’t a New Country tune, but maybe it should be.

(Lady Lex and the oil rig - “Gorilla 7”)

There was something very satisfying for all of us in seeing these three vessels sailing line abreast along the north shore of the Tay. We’ve all worked hard to make this moment happen.

Badger’s up to her usual tricks, though and has to go a teeny bit faster

20100924-TaymaraMVS-650x487

Ian Martin from the Maritime Volunteer Service unit in Tyneside very kindly came on board Lady Lex to assist us on the final leg of her voyage. In addition to his duties on Lady Lex, he also refused the offer of a good meal (!) to speed off and crew Badger when a call for assistance came through, first to rescue a rib that had run aground and then to take ropes for Marigot and assist her passengers to disembark safely during an unusually high spring tide at Woodhaven

It was another demonstration (if one were needed) that MVS and Taymara can work well and effectively together - something not seen on the Tay for a while, since Maritime Volunteer Service governing council effectively barred all co-operation between the two maritime charities.

Many thanks. A good day too.

It didn’t take long for loads of us to get on board Lady Lex and er...basically.... gawp. The build quality and design of this vessel is truly amazing.

More accommodation. There seem to be beds, heads, showers and bedrooms everywhere.  I lost my bearings at this point and had to shout for help.

Taymara is a charity run entirely by volunteers on a not for profit basis for the benefit of the local community.

We aim to provide a community boat service and maritime experience through sightseeing and dolphin watching trips which allow great opportunities to see the river and its wildlife as it should be seen - from the water!

In addition, we aim to provide sea training for individuals and vulnerable groups who might normally be excluded from this experience.
We also work closely with organisations who provide recovery and rehabilitation programmes which encompass drug and alchohol abuse.

(Taymara is registered in Scotland, Charity number SC039319. Company number SC334650)

Thanks to all our sponsors and all those who have supported us  -
