Kirsty’s doing a survey of Dolphin sightings and doing her RYA Powerboat level 2. She gets wheeltime driving Badger before transferring to Marigot for the survey when the trips start for the day.

Ross brought his guitar. It’s more practical than his grand piano....

“D” chord at 20 knots? That’s what Badger’s engines are tuned to

20110703-DSC_7193-650x435

He’s ok on it actually.

Joel...I asked for the wheelhouse to be filled with white roses and a crate of Evian Water.  .......and a stretch limo at the Ferry.

A perfect line towards coming alongside. This is what you want to see happening.

20110703-DSC_7233-650x435

Star of the day was Ross, who sailed Badger slowly and safely along near the rocks to make way for Marigot while she came in and then drove Badger to her berth in another perfect line to some considerable applause.

There was a pod of around 20 Bottlenosed Dolphins dispersed throughout the area between Broughty Castle, the Larick Beacon and the Horseshoe buoy.

Back at Davy Andersons. The effort of swimming so fast clearly shows on the cygnets faces. As does hope and greed. They know we have cake left over because Bob’s yelling “Swans!!” and waving it at them.

Leave some icing for me, mum....                              ......Not bl---dy likely....!

8.00 in the morning and the first thing we have to do is to shorten the cradle for Badger which is currently “adjusted” to fit Marigot. After the event, we decide that it might have been easier to lengthen Badger..

20110526-DSC_4809-650x469

Better unhook the car now anyway. It’s only eight o’clock.

20110526-DSC_4819-650x435

We drive Badger onto the now submerged and shortened cradle.

Immediately before a boat is removed from the water, Norman and Bob do this to bring us good luck. This dance is unique to the River Tay.

She’s out and all four wheels are still on the wagon. Jeff looks suitably impressed.

Norman and Jeff begin cleaning her hull straight away.

Taymara is a charity run entirely by volunteers on a not for profit basis for the benefit of the local community.

We aim to provide a community boat service and maritime experience through sightseeing and dolphin watching trips which allow great opportunities to see the river and its wildlife as it should be seen - from the water!

In addition, we aim to provide sea training for individuals and vulnerable groups who might normally be excluded from this experience.
We also work closely with organisations who provide recovery and rehabilitation programmes which encompass drug and alchohol abuse.

(Taymara is registered in Scotland, Charity number SC039319. Company number SC334650)
