MVS Tay vessel Badger - Maritime Volunteer Service

Badger is an extremely capable, seaworthy vessel, purchased and wholly owned by Taymara. She is fully equipped with the latest navigational aids and safety equipment.

Badger has a full schedule which encompasses working as one of our training vessels, commercial sailing as a passenger craft, and in addition she fulfills many other functions in support of our local community.

She has been fitted with a Simrad integrated Radar/GPS/Chart Plotter/Echo Sounder.

Badger is a 34ft Nelson class launch powered by twin 225 hp Perkins Sabre turbocharged diesels and is crewed, skippered and fully maintained in code by our membership.

Joining

Regular meetings on Marigot, berthed alongside North Carr Victoria Dock, Dundee - Thursdays 7.30 pm and on Sundays throughout the winter

Badger is slipped every year (around March/April) repainted, anti-fouled and refitted.

Badger's Navman radio was fitted in 2005

New props were fitted in 2006 as the old ones were found to have extensive pitting.

Her entire navigation system and her fuel system have been replaced, and new props were fitted

During Badger’s 2009 refit her British Leyland engines were replaced with these brand new twin 225hp Perkins Sabre turbocharged diesels.

Badger is coded to carry 10 persons by the MCA

Badger towing a yacht into Tayport Harbour after she broke her moorings and drifted onto rocks at Woodhaven.

2007 and she's just rescued a motor cruiser.and towed her to Newport following engine failure. Badger is a well known vessel around Dundee.
