			Moving on....

			After a few national difficulties experienced by the Maritime Volunteer Service over recent years and the mass resignation of all our members from the MVS (we transferred to and became Taymara) .....we are pleased to hand over the remaining MVS assets from the North Carr Lightship and wish the Maritime Volunteer Service a long and happy future.

The first workbenches are assembled in the newly designated workshop area of North Carr’s engine room.

Many thanks to the Mathew Trust, Dundee for their generous donation towards establishing workshop facilities on board North Carr. The workshop, which will be equipped with a full range of machine tools, welding equipment and hand tools, will give an added dimension to our work with Taymara trainees and allow us to expand our weekly activities and training modules to include engine servicing and repairs, fabrication, general metalwork and woodwork.



The space in the engine room is first cleared by Paul and Mark before the benches arrive.

	Engines in neutral, Badger glides in towards the harbour wall. One touch astern on the port throttle at the right moment will slow the vessel and simultaneously swing her parallel to the wall in the correct position.

		We’re saddened to hear of the death of Mick Anderson who was a member of Taymara for some time. We appreciated his companionship, hard work and good humour and he will be sadly missed. Our condolences and sympathy go out to his family and friends

	Taymara is a charity run entirely by volunteers on a not for profit basis for the benefit of the local community.


	We aim to provide a community boat service and maritime experience through sightseeing and dolphin watching trips which allow great opportunities to see the river and its wildlife as it should be seen - from the water!


	In addition, we aim to provide sea training for individuals and vulnerable groups who might normally be excluded from this experience. We also work closely with organisations who provide recovery and rehabilitation programmes which encompass drug and alchohol abuse.
